While the game has been running on the console through backward compatibility, Mojang is finally pushing an update that adds enhanced lighting and shadows to the experience.

Before you get too excited about your entire world getting a facelift, Mojang is being pretty specific about the limitations. Those "Vibrant Visuals" won't apply across the board—split-screen play is excluded, as is some third-party content from the marketplace. The one bright spot is the Nintendo-exclusive Super Mario Mash-Up pack, which is getting a dedicated update to ensure it benefits from the new graphical bells and whistles.
For the long-term players, the good news is that your progress isn't trapped on your old console; save data is confirmed to carry over to the Switch 2. As for the upgrade itself, Mojang has confirmed a digital path for current owners, though they’re keeping quiet on whether it’ll hit your wallet. They’ve promised "more details to follow" on pricing, which usually means "get your credit card ready."

It feels like a massive pivot for the brand, and frankly, I'm just hoping the "Vibrant Visuals" update is actually worth the transition rather than just another layer of polish on a decade-old engine.
